Arsenal avoided a major embarrassment against English Premier League’s (EPL) cellar-dwellers, Wolves, requiring two own-goals — one in added time — to win 2-1 on Saturday. However, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta opted to see the brighter side of things, claiming that a gritty win like this shows his side’s resilience.
“This [win] gives you belief that regardless of how the game goes, we can always find a solution to win it,” Arteta said. However, with the amount of chances that they had in the first-half, Arteta admitted that the margin of victory should have been bigger, and lamented a period of complacency in the second-half for making matters tougher than it needed to be.

“There’s a very clear understanding that the margin should have been bigger. We were not precise enough in the first-half with the amount of chances we generated. After [our first goal] we had a period with horrible defensive habits, that is nowhere near the required level,” said Arteta.
The Gunners struck first in the 70th minute as Bukayo Saka’s shot was parried by Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone onto the post, only for the ball to rebound off it, hit Johnstone’s arm and go into the net.
Wolves pulled level in the 90th minute with Tolu Arokodare’s header. But just as the Arsenal fans contemplated a draw, the Gunners benefited from a second own-goal as Saka’s cross was diverted into the net by Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera.
