Watch a play
7 PM: Catch Shernaz Patel, Jim Sarbh and Ira Dubey bring alive Tennessee Williams’ famed The Glass Menagerie. The play, directed by Rajit Kapur, tells the story of Amanda, who has been abandoned by her husband. Her son, Tom, a poet with a job in the docks, longs for adventure and escape from his mother’s suffocating embrace, while Laura, her shy crippled daughter, has her glass menagerie and her memories. The ‘memory play’ transports us into private worlds where desire clashes with obdurate reality.

Listen to the romantics

Let them tell you a story
Relive the bygone art of Urdu storytelling with Dastangoi. It’s made of two words — dastan, which means a long tale and goi, which mean to tell. This session will be performed by Aksara Naqvi and Valentina Trivedi, whose narration will transport you to another world, through one of the richest and most poetic language known to mankind.

Go for an art and health exhibit
Mumbai Mobile Creche (MMC) is holding its first ever health exhibition to draw attention to the vulnerability and health issues migrant construction workers and their children go through. It will showcase a variety of health seminars as well as 3D installation works which will address topics like sanitation, community participation, hand washing, nutrition, immunisation and pregancy. There will also be board games and cultural performances around the theme of health. MMC has been functional since 1969 and for over 40 years they have been providing creche facilities to the children of construction workers.

Say ‘aye’ to Eggs Benedict
Under a brand new name The Benedict, this Bandra eatery is seeking to reinvent itself and you can go relish their expanded menu. Staying true to its name, they are now offering not one, but three versions of Eggs Benedict — the Classic, with black forest ham and classic hollandaise. There’s also The Elvis Sandwich, a classic grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich and their Eggy Bread, a custard-filled French toast served with house-made honey walnut ice cream, topped with Cheerios. Listen to some dark music
Experience a medley of sounds, voices, tones and music in room sunk in pitch darkness and Swiss musicians Sandro Schneebeli and Max Pizio take listeners through a sensory experience of sounds and touch, but not vision. In fact, the audience will be assisted to their seats by visually challenged people. The concert includes several string, wind and percussion instruments and one can see nothing, not even the musicians, except for the last 10 minutes of the concert. The concert has been organised by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Mumbai. The experience is designed in such a way that it opens up people emotionally, so that they feel the music in the truest sense of the term.

Decode mythology on canvas
11 am to 7 pm: Delhi-based artist Arpitha Reddy is in the city to showcase her exhibition titled Udbhavam. On display will be 28 paintings that bring out the essence of the mythological stories we have grown up on. Of special interest is the Amruta Manthana series that tells the story of the churning of the milky ocean by Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva’s role in it. This one promises a fine way to recall the mythological riches of India.
