Mira Kapoor’s new Bandra sanctuary offers city-dwellers a way to slow down, reset, and reconnect — without leaving town

A sneak peek into Mira Kapoor's new wellness retreat in Bandra

Mira Kapoor’s Dhun Wellness claims to be India’s first in-city luxury wellness sanctuary, inviting urban dwellers to pause, heal, and reset without leaving the city

On Tuesday at noon, when the rain Gods were slightly calmer, we headed to Dhun Wellness in Bandra to explore how this new urban wellness sanctuary fits into the fast-paced city life. Founded by entrepreneur and investor Mira Kapoor, it claims to be India’s first in-city luxury wellness sanctuary, inviting urban dwellers to pause, heal, and reset without leaving the city. Kapoor believes the wellness space in India remains largely untapped. “Most often, the industry is polarised — on one end, there’s hospital care, and on the other, aesthetic care in salons or dermatology clinics. But in-city wellness is a gap I felt was waiting to be discovered,” she explains.

In an interview with Sunday mid-day, she shared, “I do a seven-day detox every year, and each time, I struggled with the idea of leaving my family behind and taking time out to travel for it. I knew there had to be more people like me — those looking to address metabolic dysfunction, managing lifestyle disorders, and being the best version of themselves by integrating wellness into their everyday life.”

This insight led to the creation of Dhun — a space in the heart of the city that enables people to embark on transformative wellness journeys without having to step away from their lives. “Whether it’s cutting-edge technology, visiting masters, longevity protocols or world-class doctors, everything at Dhun is designed so you can access it here, regularly, and with you at the centre of it all.”

On the seventh floor of the same building as the Asian Paints Experience Centre, Dhun is a thoughtfully designed 6000 sq ft space that blends ancient healing with modern science to offer transformative wellness right where life happens. There are 13 treatment rooms, three private consultation suites, post-treatment recovery lounges, and thoughtfully designed shower, steam and locker facilities. From the ambient lighting to the tactile materials and subtle, grounding aromas, the space is designed to offer a sense of calm within the city — a pace and rhythm that allows you to reconnect on your terms.

We began by filling out an exhaustive four-page form that captured detailed insights into our lifestyle and health habits, followed by a quick consultation with Dr Sujit Kumar Gupta, an integrative health expert, who conducted a pulse diagnosis and reviewed our inputs to recommend a treatment called Harmonia — a 60-minute, gentle and flowing massage therapy designed to ease physical tension, improve circulation, and promote deep relaxation. In the minimalist-designed treatment room, the therapist used slow, steady strokes to relieve stress in our stiff muscles, offering an experience that is calm and grounded. This helps the body unwind, allowing the mind to settle into a quieter state more quickly.

Alongside this, we were advised to incorporate 30 minutes of yoga and 15 minutes of daily meditation, engage in physical activity at least four times a week for 45 minutes — be it brisk walking, jogging, or cardio workouts — while maintaining a minimum daily water intake of three litres, adopting a balanced, Kapha-aligned diet rich in fruits and vegetables with at least 40 per cent raw food to improve digestion and bowel movements, meditating or practising Yoga Nidra in bed to support restful sleep, fasting once a month with juices or fruits, and taking two Ashwagandha tablets after dinner and one Shatavari tablet after lunch, along with sipping cinnamon-infused water — prepared by adding a stick to one litre of hot water — three to four times a day, all as part of a holistic routine aimed at realigning the body and mind with consistency and care.

We were also informed about Dhun’s signature 7-day wellness programme to address contemporary concerns such as gut health, sleep, stress, and women’s well-being. Treatments range from Ayurvedic rituals and sound therapy to cryotherapy and red light collagen therapy, all set within serene interiors that ground, restore, and rejuvenate.

Dhun Wellness doesn’t position itself as a spa or a medical clinic. It sits in the space between — bridging holistic therapies with scientific grounding. Its aim is not to overwhelm or overcorrect but to support consistent, informed choices that help individuals better understand and care for their bodies. “Dhun in Mumbai is our flagship, but it’s just the beginning,” says Kapoor. “Urban dwellers across India — just like in Mumbai — are living fast-paced lives, yet craving spaces where they can slow down, tune in, and truly understand what their bodies are trying to say. At Dhun, our approach isn’t about fear or correction. It’s about empathy. We’re here to help you listen to your body, understand it across various modalities, and take consistent, informed steps toward your best self. Healing and harmony are at the core. The vision is to expand across cities in India, offering the best of Eastern wisdom, Western innovation, longevity science, and recovery tools — under one roof,” she concludes.
