Dr Santosh Bangar has been working with senior citizens for more than 20 years. According to him, the most common problems afflicting them are dementia, depression, sleep disorders and anxiety, which can be caused by a variety of reasons such as the loss of a spouse, job, isolation, or any pre-existing medical or physical ailments. He also specified how chronic illness such as Parkinson’s, a major stroke, and blood pressure also affect the mental health of a senior citizen.  His course of treatment, depending on the assessment of the patient, relies on medication, counselling, psychotherapy, social intervention and cognitive stimulation. He is available for one-on-one sessions, and also for group sessions involving the whole family.

RECOMMENDED BY: Asha Samataini,  says, “I consulted Dr Bangar for my mother’s schizophrenia. It’s been more than a year that he has been treating her, and her condition is much better. He also made an exception and paid a visit to our home during the lockdown”.
