Hygiene and wellness startup Pee Safe offers feminine hygiene products ranging from period care to sexual wellness. Their reusable pads are made of breathable fabric that ensures a comfortable experience during your menstrual cycle. These pads prevent any kind of itching or rash that is commonly caused by the use of plastic pads. The reusable sanitary pads last up to one year if they are used and taken care of properly. Maintenance includes soaking, washing and drying the pad in direct sunlight.  Their new offering is the menstrual disc, an alternate sustainable period product that provides up to 12 hours of protection. Made from ultra-soft medical-grade silicone, the reusable disc is phthalate and BPA-free, and comes with a leak-proof rim.

Anandi

Anandi is India’s first and only government of India lab-certified fully compostable pad. The pad can be disposed of by burying in a pit and waiting for the compounds to decompose naturally. Due to the natural raw materials used to make the pad, this process is safe, easy and quick. They become part of the soil and manure within three to six months in composting conditions. The organic cotton top layer comes with a unique wetness-reducing treatment and has a plant-based Bio-SAP Sheet for high absorbency. One pack of eight compostable Anandi pads retail at R40. The profit is paid as commission to 
the women producing and distributing the pads.

Saathi

Kristin Kagetsu, Tarun Bothra, Amrita Saigal and Grace Kane, graduates from MIT, Harvard, and Nirma University came together to launch fully eco-friendly and compostable sanitary napkins called Saathi. The pads are made of bamboo and banana fibres and help menstruating women avoid rashes and irritation during their period. The chemical-free nature of these materials makes them safe for the environment and the menstruator. By purchasing agri-waste of the banana trees, Saathi is also helping provide additional income to the farmers.

Sirona

Sirona is a wellness startup that addresses feminine hygiene problems, ranging from period to menopause. One of their signature products is the biodegradable black pads made with corn, sugarcane, cassava and straw bale. It is super-absorbent, rash-free, anti-bacterial and locks the period smell.  They also have tampons, which have been made in Europe and are FDA-approved. The eight grooves along the length of each tampon regulate its even expansion, thus enhancing its absorption and reliability.
