Take it slow, give him time and space to figure out what’s going on in his life, and allow this to happen in an organic manner.

I have been in a relationship with a guy for three years and he recently told me this wasn’t working because he was never in love with me. I am heartbroken, but I have also been wondering if this is an excuse and if there are other reasons for him not wanting to be with me. Why would anyone stay with someone for three years if there was no love? Am I overthinking this? I want to let him go and move on, but part of me wonders if I should put up more of a fight and convince him to re-examine how he feels about us. Is this a waste of time?
If you love this person and want to make this work, you can do everything in your power to get him to think about this decision. However, if he isn’t willing to put in that same amount of work, nothing you do will be enough. You may be completely justified in assuming there may be other reasons, but none of them really matter if he has made up his mind about ending this. You can try for a while, but only after thinking about what this means for you, your future, and your mental health. Base your decision upon how long you are willing to wait, and at what cost. Do start by asking him if he is willing to work on this though, because if he isn’t, you’re only delaying the inevitable.
Someone I am in love with has ongoing issues with his ex-girlfriend and this makes him extremely angry at times. We are just dating and I have not decided about getting into a relationship because I worry about getting hurt. What should I do?
Take it slow, give him time and space to figure out what’s going on in his life, and allow this to happen in an organic manner. The more time you spend together, the easier it will be for you to understand him better and decide what to do.
