I am a 29-year old woman and have been dating a guy I met on an app a few months ago. He seems like a nice person, but he doesn’t say much about his previous relationships, which makes me worry about how many women he was with and whether they didn’t work out because of him or his behaviour. He treats me with respect, and I am sure he wants to ask me to consider a serious relationship with him, but I don’t want to agree until he opens up and tells me more about his personal life. He hasn’t asked me much about my past, and I don’t volunteer information, but I don’t know if this is because he wants to wait until he knows me better, or if it’s because he’s not very interested in getting to know me. Should I commit to a relationship without knowing these things about him?
You are jumping to a lot of conclusions and have little to back them up with. He hasn’t asked you anything, you don’t know if this is a serious relationship he is considering, but you want him to open up about his past when neither of you has any clarity about where this is going or what each of you wants from the other. If you like spending time with him, that is the only thing that matters for now. Keep meeting him, give him and yourself time to get used to each other’s presence, and address these issues when you have a better inkling of where things stand. Why make yourself unhappy for no reason, or overthink this? Try being patient.
