At the time of the incident, a tutorial class was going on at the third floor. Of the six who died, four were women, and two kids.

According to eyewitness accounts, an occupant of a unit on the third floor was holding tuition classes, when the third-floor slab gave way, and fell in on the second floor, finally resting on the first.

Jagdish Patil, sub-station officer, fire department, Mira-Bhayandar, said, "We received a call at 5.50 pm, informing us of the collapse, and we rushed to the spot.
