Wednesday turned out to be a very special day for 13-year-old Vaishnav Narvekar
Not only was he presented with the best junior cricketer 2012-13 (U-14) award at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s prize distribution function at the Wankhede Stadium, the person who handed the youngster the award was none other than his idol Sachin Tendulkar.

“Like many, my idol is Sachin Sir and Rahul Dravid. When my name was announced, I walked towards the podium and was overawed when I saw him. I was surprised and didn’t know how to react. For me, his blessings were more important than the award itself. Receiving an award from him was the best moment of my life so far,” the class IX student said.
The IES VN Sule Guruji student said that Tendulkar’s words have inspired him to train harder. “It was a very touching moment for me when he said ‘Well done’.
He asked me to sincerely work hard the way I’m doing right now. He is a God for many cricketers, but I can proudly say that I met him in person,” he added.
