Ajit Agarkar was not named in Mumbai's 15-man squad for the Ranji Trophy Trophy Elite match against Saurashtra that begins in Rajkot from December 6, after the seamer declared himself unavailable for the game.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Nitin Dalal said that Agarkar had submitted a letter addressed to him and Ratnakar Shetty, the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) chief administrative officer and MCA vice-president, stating his unavailability.

"He (Agarkar) has given it in writing, making himself unavailable for the Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra," Dalal told ESPN Cricinfo.

However, Agarkar did not provide any specific reason for his unavailability. The 33-year-old had abruptly left Cuttack on November 29 after being left out of Mumbai's XI for the game against Orissa.

Agarkar had said he was disappointed at not being informed beforehand of his exclusion. He subsequently found strong support from teammate Zaheer Khan, who said Sulakshan Kulkarni, Mumbai's coach, and Milind Rege, chairman of selectors are pulling Mumbai cricket back.

Meanwhile, Zaheer, who bowled 22 overs in Cuttack on his return to competitive cricket after an ankle surgery, is set to play against Saurashtra too.
