Yes, unlike other celebrities who hate to step out in the monsoons, this petite actress loves to drive around town and indulge in her favourite monsoon treats that make the season so special. My mom always warns me against eating ice cream in the monsoons as it gives me a cold. But with the restriction comes the rebellion. When my cravings get uncontrollable, I sneak out of the house and satisfy myself with a few scoops and cones. You see, monsoons somehow manage to tempt you to binge on junk food. Ice creams and rains is an unusual combination, but I love it. Besides, I can binge on countless bhuttas this season as there's no fear of contracting infections. The taste of freshly roasted bhutta smeared with lime and chilli is simply amazing.

Wet walks
I also enjoy roaming around town in the monsoons. South Mumbai, especially has a quaint charm about it with its colonial architecture. And in the evenings, you'll see the working class winding up for the day, retreating into the small nooks and corners of those old heritage buildings. Little later, you can hear the whistle of the pressure cooker or sounds of cooking from the small apartments above. I love walking down these streets in the monsoons as I munch on some garam chana. A little chit chat with the chanawala or other street hawkers is also fun. And, I love eating hot sabudana vadas from Prakash restaurant at Dadar. They are so famous that even my US-based friends know about them and crave for them. And not to forget, a drive down Bandra Reclamation on a rainy day is a must. The panoramic view of the city with the cloudy skies above is a sight to behold.

Kitchen comforts
And like my mom warns me, catching a cold or a viral infection in the monsoons is almost inevitable. The best of us suffer from it at least once. My remedy -- a hot bowl of tomato soup. It's works wonders for your throat. I like my soups spicy with a lot of freshly crushed peppercorns. And of course, monsoons are incomplete without a plate a hot onion and potato bhajjis with a dash of tomato ketchup. Yummy! Another must-have is a plate of hot khichdi and a cool glass of mattha (spiced buttermilk). A few days back, I made multi-grain khichdi at home, and it turned out really well. So, I am now armed with the basic knowledge of cooking for a rainy day!
