Senior Inspector Dilip Yadav from RCF police station said, “It’s been over 24 hours since Basu was murdered, as his body had started decomposing. We recovered his head, private parts, a couple of wristwatches and a sickle from the crime scene. The body was found by his son Prakash in the same area where the entire Rathod family was searching for Basu.”
Officials are now questioning Prakash and his brother Akash. “How did they come to know that the body had been lying in the MMRDA area? Hence, we called them to the police station for clarification,” Yadav said.
An FIR has been registered against unidentified assailant(s) under section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. In his complaint, Prakash said Basu had left home on Sunday at 6 pm without informing any of the family members.
