Carlos Tevez retires from international duty

Tevez, who has scored 13 goals for the national side, chose not to elaborate on his decision. “It’s over,” he said. “I have nothing more to add. I have said what I feel and that’s the end of the matter. If I say anything else then it would seem as if I’m asking for a recall.”

Since Alejandro Sabello took over the Argentina squad, Tevez has always been dropped. Tevez also revealed he could have quit football altogether if he had not been signed by Juventus.

“There comes a moment where you get tired, you get tired of football,” he said. “I wanted to leave football but then Juventus arrived. I had always said that I would retire at 28 and I was close to retiring after the row with Roberto Mancini," he said.
