Pakistan's chief cricket selector Mohsin Khan said he was not aware of fast bowler Mohammad Amir confessing to his spot fixing crime to Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ejaz Butt.
According to reports, Amir poured his heart out to Butt and said that he was only acting on instructions from his captain Salman Butt.
The former batting star, who had married Indian actress Reena Roy, said he was hoping for things to settle down so that Pakistan cricket could move forward. "We are hoping things get sorted out soon so that we don't have problems with these players," he said.
Mohsin was earlier quoted as saying that there should be no leniency shown to Amir just because he is a teenager. "I have been misquoted," said Mohsin.
"I only said that if any of these players have made a mistake, they should be punished irrespective of age. And if they are found innocent, they should be cleared of every charge."
