One source says this will be a "simple divorce" and that there is no third party involved. "Chris just did not want to continue in a marriage that was not fulfilling," added the source.

On the defense, his wife Malaak issued a statement making it seem like they jointly came to the decision to split but Chris' people fired back making it clear he was the one who filed for divorce.

Although the divorce won't be contentious but obviously everything is not right between the estranged couple.

According to reports, the comedian complained that Malaak prevented him from seeing their two daughters, because of which he has opted for shared legal and physical custody.

Releasing a statement via her lawyer, she claimed, "Malaak is saddened and disappointed that Chris has accused her of keeping their children from him, which he knows is untrue and can be so easily disproved."

This episode is evidently not as funny as Chris' jokes.
