Chasing a massive target of 216 runs, the New Zealand side folded for a paltry 95 runs in 15.2 overs.

Northern Districts won the toss and invited KXIP into a bat. Virender Sehwag (52 0ff 37 balls, five fours and a six) together with the talented Manan Vohra (65 from 32 balls, eighth fours and three sixes) put a century opening-wicket stand and set a platform for Punjab to post a huge total of 215/5.

But they lost momentum at the later stages following few quick dismissals after having scored 120 in the first 10 overs. However they were guided past the 200-run mark by David Miller's 18-ball-40 (5x4, 1x6).

In reply, Northern districts were never in contention of chasing the total and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost wickets at regular intervals and ultimately were bowled out below 100 runs.

Punjab's leg spinner Karanveer Singh impressed, claiming four wickets for 15 runs.

Brief scores: Kings XI Punjab 215/5 in 20 overs (Virender Sehwag 52, Manan Vohra 65, David Miller 40 not out; Scott Kuggeleijn 2/34, Ish Sodhi 2/37). Northern Knights 95 in 15.2 overs (Kane Willimson 20, Anton Devcich 28; Karanveer Singh 4/15).
