Ten state transport buses that showed up for their annual RTO inspection recently were caught carrying wrong licence numbers

If not for the vigilance of the Mysore RTO authorities, 10 newly painted Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses would have been driving around the streets with wrong licence numbers on their plates.

Confusion ensued when a painter hired by the KSRTC wrongly numbered the buses that were headed for its yearly visit to the regional RTO where its fitness certificate is renewed.u00a0

A Rajkumar, Director of Operations, KSRTC, said, "This is a clerical error, one that was unintentional. Our people in Mysore informed us as soon as the mistake was found."

He added, "We're investigating how something like this could've happened."

G Prakash, Senior Divisional Controller (Mysore) said, "We wanted to paint the 10 buses before presenting them to the RTO but somehow our painter wrongly numbered the buses. This error was caught by the RTO officer."
He added, "We sent the vehicles again today for registration and it was approved."

Buses are expected to show up at their regional RTO offices every year to have their fitness certificate renewed.

Sidappah, head of RTO in Mysore, said, "As per the government's request I file send in the report in two days explaining what happened."

Bhaskar Rao, Commissioner of Transport, said, "They were just caught on the wrong foot. I am going to let the deputy commissioner investigate it and handle the situation."
