The match fixing controversy which hit Indian cricket in 2000 has been included in the forthcoming film Sachin: A Billion Dreams, the trailer of which was shown to the media at an auditorium in Juhu yesterday.

The trailer has footage of then Indian cricket board president Dr AC Muthiah and the BCCI’s anti-corruption commissioner K Madhavan, who says that there is ample proof that match fixing did take place.

Worst time in Indian cricket
Tendulkar stressed in the film that the controversy was the worst time in Indian cricket, amidst scenes of stone-pelting and the burning of effigies.

Tendulkar is then seen in a pensive mood, sitting on the ground besides Sourav Ganguly. At that point, he says that it is important for every player to stand on his feet and fight hard.

Post 2000, when the cleansing job was completed, Indian cricket witnessed one of its finest eras in which Tendulkar played a big part in. The film directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Shrikant Bhasi of Carnival Pictures, is scheduled to be released on May 26.

Opening up to fans
The cricket icon said: "I am a private person. But over a period of time, I learnt to share information about me with my fans by finding a middle path where I am comfortable to share and they also get to know about me."

The trailer shows a 10-year-old Tendulkar being inspired by Kapil Dev & Co’s 1983 World Cup triumph at Lord’s with Tendulkar expressing his desire to hold a World Cup
as well.

That dream was fulfilled in 2011 when India, under MS Dhoni, beat Sri Lanka in the World Cup final at Wankhede Stadium.

The film also portrays Tendulkar, the mischievous kid, who is seen deflating the tyre of a car in his colony.
