Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly yesterday clarified that he never put the blame on India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for Virender Sehwag's ouster from the Test squad

Ganguly, who was quoted as saying that Dhoni had a hand in Sehwag’s exclusion from India’s Test squad, was in denial mode.u00a0

He, however, said: “It’s very difficult to say whether Dhoni has a hand in Sehwag’s exclusion but normally captains do have a say in team selection. That has been the case with all captains, whether it’s me, (Rahul) Dravid, (Sachin) Tendulkar, (Anil) Kumble, Dhoni, (Mohammed) Azharuddin or any other captain.”

The former India captain also mentioned that the selectors do not always agree with captains’ demands. “That doesn’t mean that the captain’s opinion is taken all the time by the selectors. At times, they do listen and at times they don’t. So it’s very difficult to say whether Dhoni had a hand in Sehwag’s exclusion,” he added.u00a0
