Gurgaon: A five-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped by a man and raped in posh DLF Phase-I area following which the accused was arrested, police said on Wednesday.
The girl was kidnapped from Chhakarpur village by a neighbour Sharma Yadav (32) who raped her at a vacant plot in the area on Sunday night, Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, Navdeep Singh Virk said.
The accused, a resident of Chakkarpur village adjacent to DLF Phase-1, was nabbed by locals after hearing the victim cry& and informed the police thereafter. The girl was rushed to civil hospital for treatment while the accused was arrested, he said. She was referred to Safdarjung hospital and was operated on the same night, Chief Medical Officer of Gurgaon Pushpa Bishnoi said, adding the girl is now out of danger.
A critical operation involving various stitches was performed on her. A team of doctors took more than two hours in the operation on Sunday. The child now is stated to be out of danger and would be discharged after ten days, the victim's grandfather said.
The accused, a painter by profession, confessed before the police that he kidnapped the girl on finding her alone and raped her, Virk said. Meanwhile, the police control room received a missing complaint by the victim's parents when she was kidnapped. They rushed to civil hospital where they identified her, the Commissioner said.
He was produced before a Judicial Magistrate on Monday, who sent him to judicial custody, he added.
