Fooling around

This April Fool's Day might not be that eventful for actor Chunky Panday, but this prankster specialises in making his co-stars the butt of his pranks. In spite of that he has no enemies in Bollywood. Maybe because one look at him, and you forget all your grouses against him. And he knows it. "People start laughing when they look at my face. What can I do if God's given me a face like that!" he jokes. The actor who is gearing up for the release of his new film, talks to CS about his funnyman image and how he just can't break free from it:

Role reversal
People don't take me seriously because of the roles that I play. But in real life I'm quite different. If I make a commitment, I stick by it, no matter what. I would love to experiment with different kinds of rolesu00a0-- Gabbar Singh is my dream character. I want to try my hand at negative, scary roles (laughs, so we don't know whether to believe him!) But, when people see me, they just burst out laughing. Maybe my prankster trait reflects on my face.

Just joking!
I've played so many pranks that I can't even recall them. I recently pulled a fast one on Sajid (Khan). I couriered my moustache hair to him anonymously, because I had to sport a mousch for his film, and it gave me a lot of grief. Then I called up Sajid and told him that a pervert had sent me some hair in an envelope and he was like "Me too!" I couldn't stop laughing. Then I pulled a prank on Sajid and Akshay (Kumar) recently while we were shooting in Italy. We went to a plush restaurant for an elaborate dinner, which I said was on me. But just when it was time for the bill, I went to the loo and never came back. They kept waiting for me, and finally Akshay had to foot the bill.

Me, miser?
I might have earned the reputation of being a miser in Bollywood, but that isn't really true. I spend a lot of money, it's just that I spend it on myself and my family. And trust me, that's really good for the Indian economy. But jokes apart, I am surely not stingy. I make a lot of secret donations to charity.
