Hanif Mohammad's London-based daughter Seema Syed, who flew down to Karachi a few days ago was inconsolable.
"My father had severe chest infection but otherwise all his other organs were functioning well. Our doctor had said his heart is like a 40-year-old person," said Seema.

She added: "He fought and tried his best to play a long innings. He was heavily sedated though had not gone in coma.
"My mother is sobbing. My dad was the most important person in her life." Mushtaq Mohammad, Hanif's brother, will arrive in Karachi today.
Cricketers from the Pakistan team and ex-players have been calling us. He was their hero," she added.
