New Delhi: Title holders Delhi Waveriders registered their first win of the season, beating Dabang Mumbai 3-1 win in a league match of the third edition of the Hero Hockey India League yesterday.
The Waveriders scored a goal each in the first, second and fourth quarters through Lloyd Norris Jones (10th minute), Simon Child (19th) and Akashdeep Singh (52nd) respectively for their maiden win in the six-team franchise-based event.
Dabang Mumbai's lone goal came in the third quarter from Arjun Halappa in the 36th minute at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
Meanwhile, Jaypee Punjab Warriors beat Kalinga Lancers 2-1. Gurjinder Singh gave Kalinga the lead before Punjab's Sandeep Singh made it 1-1. Punjab's Affan Yousuf then scored the goal.
