MCA vice-president Ravi Savant remains nonchalant after official ticketing website for Sachin Tendulkar's 200th Test crashes even before it could start selling tickets

'If a few people aren't getting tickets, why is there such a hue and cry?'

One would imagine that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) would be worried, or at least show concern when the website they have made official ticketing partners crashed, leaving thousands of fans dejected.

But that wasn’t the case. Instead, MCA officials were indifferent to the fans. “If a few people are not getting tickets, why is there such a hue and cry about the issue?” asked MCA vice-president Ravi Savant.

On Monday morning, thousands of fans logged on to KyaZoonga.com to get their hands on the select 3,000 tickets for Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell 200th Test match at Wankhede Stadium.

However, what fans received were technical errors time and again, leaving them with no tickets and lots of frustration. The website, which clocked in 19 million hits within an hour of the opening of sales, crashed even before it could start selling tickets.

Savant added, “It wasn’t an error from the MCA’s side. It was a technical error. If the problem still persists, then we will take a call on it tomorrow morning.”

Before Sachin’s final Test starting on November 14, the MCA had decided to sell 5,000 tickets online to the public. Around 3,000 were made available, excluding the 1,500 special tickets priced at Rs 10,000.

The price category for the online sale was -- Rs 500, Rs 1,000and Rs 2,500.
