Kolkata: Reigning champions Atletico de Kolkata on Friday announced the signing of Spanish professional footballer Juan Calatayud as a goalkeeper for the upcoming season of ISL.
Juan currently plays for Hungarian club Videoton FC as he would replace Apoula Edima Edel Bete who switched allegiance to Chennaiyin FC. ATK however are yet to announce their marquee player.
"We are delighted to have been able to sign an experienced goalkeeper like Juan who has experience of playing in the Spanish circuit and in Hungary," ATK co-owner and chairman RP- Sanjiv Goenka Group Sanjiv Goenka said in a release.
35-year-old Calatayud represented Andalusians' first team and went on to appear in 36 La Liga games in two separate seasons. In July 2008, Calatayud joined second level side Hércules CF on a two-year deal.
Calatayud was again an undisputed starter in the 2010¿11 season, but Valencian were immediately relegated. In July he returned to the top division, signing with RCD Mallorca for two years.
