Kings, RCB tussle over Saurabh Tiwary

What's a cricketing event without controversy? At the Indian Premier League player auction here on Saturday, India batsman Saurabh Tiwary was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore, but at the last moment, Kings XI Punjab decided to bid too. This led to a confusion and the auctioneer Richard Madley apologised. What followed was some drama in both camps. Tiwary ultimately went to RCB for $1.6m.

RCB team boss Sidharth Mallya told SUNDAY MiD DAY: "It was unfair. When a bid is closed, how come it is open again? That's why I went to the KXIP table (to discuss the issue). Meanwhile KXIP owner, Preity Zinta said: "There was no fight between us. It's their call finally and we didn't drag the bid."
