The lady who gave India two Test cricketers and a first-class player is no more. Kailash Kumari, the wife of former India captain Lala Amarnath and mother of Surinder, Mohinder, and Rajender Amarnath, passed away yesterday at the age of 92.
Rajender, the youngest of the three brothers, broke the news of his mother's death on his Facebook page with the words, "The hand which made me take the first step in this world left for another journey today all by herself as I still her hand tightly. Ma I will miss you." Kailash Kumari leaves behind a daughter as well.
In an interview to mid-day in 2009, Mohinder said this about his mother: "I learnt a lot from my mother too. My temperament is more like hers."
