The Mumbai Cricket Association's (MCA) senior selection committee meeting at the MCA ground in Bandra Kurla Complex on Saturday was out of the ordinary.
The meeting witnessed the entry of MCA vice-president Ravi Savant, who it is learnt, surprised chairman Sandeep Patil and his fellow selectors.

Sources told mid-day that Savant's presence at the selection meeting wherein only the selectors, captain, coach and MCA secretary ought to be present, was not well accepted.
The team for Mumbai's next match against Delhi is likely to be released to the media on Thursday and a fit Wasim Jaffer is ready to return to the squad.
Sources said Savant wanted to discuss with the selectors the inconsistent performance dished out by the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team so far in the season.
Mumbai could earn only a single point in their last encounter at home against lowly-placed Madhya Pradesh after the visitors took the first innings lead.
It is also learnt that the selectors and MCA officials discussed the inappropriate behaviour of two members of the Mumbai team during the last match.
