The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has released banned Ankeet Chavan's match fees to the tune of Rs 25 lakh.

The decision was taken by the Managing Committee.

It is learnt that the MCA asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) if there was any issue in releasing the left-arm spinner's payment.

Chavan was banned by the BCCI after his allegedly involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League spot fixing scandal. His other Rajasthan Royals teammates included S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila.

"Ankeet wrote to MCA requesting to release the payment of his first-class season. The members felt his payment should be released as he performed exceptionally well in that Ranji Trophy season. He was caught in spot fixing scandal only later. He is still not proven guilty," an MCA source told mid-day yesterday.

Meanwhile, the MCA has decided to hold back last season's match fees of Suryakumar Yadav and Sarfaraz Khan by a year. They were earlier let off with a warning by the MCA's Disciplinary Committee.

Yadav had allegedly used abusive language during the season while 17-year-old Sarfaraz had allegedly made obscene gestures during a Mumbai U-19 match.

"The Managing Committee was of the view that there has to be some punishment. That is why we have decided to hold their match fees of the season.

We will monitor their behaviour and release it in the next season," MCA's Joint Hon Secretary Nitin Dalal told mid-day. It is learnt that the match fees of Yadav and Sarfaraz could be over Rs 10 lakh.
