Hamilton, fresh from taking a crushing win in Malaysia last week, set a time of one minute 34.325 seconds, to end the day nearly four-tenths of a second ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg at the floodlit Sakhir circuit by setting the second quickest time.

Ferrari third
Behind the two Mercedes, Fernando Alonso put Ferrari in third but the Spaniard was a full second off Hamilton’s time.

Daniel Ricciardo was fourth in the lead Red Bull ahead of Williams driver Felipe Massa and McLaren’s Jenson Button. Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel set the seventh fastest time ahead of Toro Rosso and McLaren rookies Daniil Kvyat and Kevin Magnussen.
