Guntur: In a bizarre incident, a monkey was seen 'stealing' a wad of notes worth Rs 10,000 from the cash drawer of a jewellery store in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
The simian can be seen picking up (circled) a wad of notes from a drawer at the cash counter
In a video that has gone viral across various social media platforms, the simian can be seen entering the shop on the pretext of reclaiming the fruit it threw in the store.
“The monkey threw a guava inside and entered the jewellery store. Though we threw the fruit back at the monkey, it still entered the shop.
It roamed for almost 20 minutes before opening one of the drawers at the cash counter and ran away with R10,000,” the shop owner said.
There have been records of such 'thefts', wherein monkeys stole money from people
>> A temple in Vrindavan witnessed rain of money. Probe revealed that a monkey had emptied the purse of a devotee he had stolen at the temple.
>> A simian snatched a woman's purse at Banke Bihari temple in Borivli. The monkey opened the purse and flung a few notes into the air.
