The arrested persons were identified as Sandip Darwade (34) and Kunal Pensalwar (28), the two engineers, and labourer Hiraman Kadam (48). The trio was arrested after contractor Sunil Brahme registered a complaint against the engineers with the ACB officials.
“Brahme had visited the MSEDCL office on January 10 with a proposal to install 73 new connections in Akurdi. But both the engineers demanded Rs 5 lakh to pass the proposal,” ACB Police Inspector Rajendra Galande said.
Galande added that instead of paying the bribe, Brahme approached the ACB office and lodged a complaint against the engineers. After registering the complaint, Brahme settled the deal for Rs 2 lakh and said he would initially pay half of the amount. A trap was laid and Kadam was arrested red-handed.u00a0
