The build-up to the final had been interesting given St Mary's had comprehensively beaten St Stanislaus (Bandra) 4-1, while Don Bosco scraped through 1-0 against Campion (Colaba) in their respective semi-finals.

However, yesterday, the reigning U-10 champions showed no sign of losing their grip on the trophy. Defender Sumeel Kotian opened the scoring for the Bosco boys with a long-range free-kick that stormed into the roof of the net.

Forward Harsh Palande then scored a neat hat-trick as the Matunga lads completed their rout.

Don Bosco skipper Jorryn Fernandes said the win was a sweet revenge for his team. “Some of the St Mary's players were part of the Kenkre Champions League seven-a-side tournament and had beaten us in Parel last week. So we got our revenge with this win,” said the sturdy left-back.

Bosco coach Leslie Machado was pleased to sign off the season with a win but admitted he did not expect victory by this margin. “It's been a tough season with only our U-12 'A', 'B' and U-16 (Ahmed Sailor) teams winning titles.

So it's really special to end the season with this victory. I expected a tough final battle though and thought it would be a 1-0 result, but after Sumil's blazing free-kick I think St Mary's just could not recover,” said Machado.
