Lanky Punjab leg-spinner Rahul Sharma shot into limelight through Indian Premier League (IPL-IV) in 2010.

My turn to learn from Dada, says Rahul Sharma

In its fifth edition, he is continuing the same way, but with bit more responsibility for Pune Warriors India. According to the leggie, he will mature as a bowler after IPL-V as he is following every word his captain Sourav Ganguly is uttering. “I had a dream of playing under Dada and it came true this season. I have improved a lot after playing under captains like MS Dhoni (for India) and Harbhajan Singh (for Punjab), and now it’s my turn to learn as much as possible from Dada who has produced many champions during his reign as India skipper,” Sharma told MiD DAY yesterday.

Asked about any specialty in Ganguly’s captaincy on the eve of Pune’s fifth fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Punjab spinner said it is the attitude that mattered. “He keeps everything very simple to us. He is a great reader of the game and knows how to use each and every player. He gives confidence and makes us feel that we can do it, which makes a lot of difference when we take field,” Sharma felt.

The tweaker, who has taken six wickets so far with an economy rate below six, now wants to follow the same strategy Pune have been following in the IPL-V. “There’s no different plan for every match. Strategies may differ, but not the ways to execute it. We have to keep up the good work in the rest of the matches and expect the same result,” he said. u00a0
