Wodeyar (60) was brought in a "non-responsive" state and attempts to resuscitate him did not succeed, sources at Vikram Hospital, where he was rushed, said.

Wadiyar was earlier this month elected president for the second time -- his first stint being during 2007-10 -- with former India batsman Brijesh Patel as his secretary.

The son of the late Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, he was a former MP and had represented the Mysore Parliamentary Constituency as a Congressman.

Wodeyar's wife Pramoda Devi Avaru is from the Bettada Kote Ursu family of the former princely state of Mysore.

KSCA condoles Wadiyar's death

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Tuesday condoled the death of its newly-elected president Srikantadatta Narasimharaaja Wadiyar here Tuesday.

“He was a very happy man when we won the recently concluded elections. He had definite plans for the next three years and was very keen to start implementing them at the earliest.

“This is really unfortunate. Our thoughts are with the family as of now,” said Brijesh Patel in a statement issued by the KSCA.u00a0
