Not many are aware that Neil Nitin Mukesh is the first cousin of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana writer-director Sameer Sharma. And the few who were aware that they were related wondered why Neil did not feature in his film that starred Kunal Kapoor along with Huma Qureshi. There was also buzz that Neil and Sameer would team up for a film perhaps at a later date.
All the speculations can now be laid to rest as the cousins are planning a project together. It’s work in progress because as soon as Neil wraps up his present three films on hand, he will start concentrating on his movie with Sameer.
Says a source, “The cousins are definitely planning to come together. Neil is keen to act in his film and both are excited at the very thought of it. They both are working together to figure out something exciting to come up with soon. They has been talk about doing a film with music as the backdrop.”
The legendary singer Mukesh is Neil’s paternal grandfather. While for Sameer he is his maternal grandfather. So music has been an inextricable link in both the families — the reason why they feel the film should have a song and dance backdrop.
Though music runs in the family with Neil’s father Nitin Mukesh also a singer, Neil chose acting while his younger brother Naman is looking at the field of direction. He has been assisting Abbas-Mustan on their upcoming film.
