While two accused have been arrested, the third is still absconding
As IF the country’s heartlessness knows no bounds, a 20 year-old Nepali woman was raped by three different men on three separate occasions — all under the pretext of helping her settle in Mumbai. On Saturday, the three accused were booked for allegedly gang raping the woman. The two accused, identified as Julfikar Shaikh (26) and Parvez Shaikh (20), were arrested while the third unidentified accused is still absconding.
The woman, who was having marital difficulties, fled to Mumbai in the hopes of meeting her friend from Nepal. She boarded a taxi for Madanpura, Nagpada from Kurla station at 5 am on Friday. Her husband used to work in a purse-making mill at Madanpura.

Additional commissioner of police Praveen Salunke of Zone 3 said, “The victim was acquainted with the mill owner Julfikar and requested him to let her stay in the mill for a few days until she found a job.”
According to police officials the first incident of rape took place at 7 am on Friday when Julfikar allegedly raped the woman. He later dropped her to Baby Garden at Agripada. Salunke said, “The victim was immediately picked by Julfikar’s unidentified friend from Baby Garden and was again raped at around 11 am in a lodge at Agripada.”
With nowhere left to go, the woman called her relative, who in turn requested his friend Parvez to book a ticket for her. “Before she could reach CST station at night, the train had already left. Parvez accompanied her to the station,” said Salunke, adding, “As he could not leave her alone in the mill which was full of male workers, Parvez took her to A1 lodge in Madanpura.”
The third incident of rape, by Parvez, took place early morning on Saturday. He was arrested from the same lodge at 4 am. “We got a tip-off that a woman from Nepal is being sold at Kamathipura so we set up stakeouts at brothels and later found her in a room at A1 lodge with the accused Parvez,” said Salunke.
When asked whether the victim’s husband knows about the incidents, Salunke said, “We are trying to get in touch with him as the victim herself has no clue about his location or even his new number.” The two arrested accused will be produced in court on Sunday.u00a0
