Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt has expressed optimism at the prospect of arranging a bilateral series with India.

Butt had recently visited India and held meetings with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials.

He said that the meetings would help in reviving sporting ties between the two countries.

"I held discussions with Indian officials. Both countries have shown their eagerness for the revival of the series," Butt told The Express Tribune.

"We're working on finalizing terms and conditions and fans will hear the good news soon," he added.

He also termed reports that suggest a neutral venue as a possible location for the bilateral series as premature.

"We are still at a stage of finalising things. Confirming anything on the venue would be premature," Butt said.

Bilateral relations were strained after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, in which over 160 people were killed.

The two cricket-crazy nations have clashed with each other in various tournaments, but fans have been deprived of a bilateral series.
