Pollock plays down MI captain Harbhajan's lean patch

Mumbai Indians’ bowling coach and mentor, Shaun Pollock is worried about captain Harbhajan Singh’s lean patch with the ball. He felt that the offie would be back in rhythm soon.u00a0“Harbhajan sets very high standards for himself and his performance hasn’t been that bad. Obviously, he hasn’t got a lot wickets, but that is not something we are worried about,” said Pollock, on the eve of Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils Indian Premier League-V fixture, yesterday.

On why Harbhajan is bowling flat, the coach said: “It depends on what situation you are bowling and whom you are bowling to. There are times when he is coming in to bowl with two set batsmen at the crease. It is difficult to throw the ball up in these situations like when you are bowling to a new batsman. There is no doubt about the fact that he has played a lot of cricket here and knows the conditions very well,” Pollock said.

Malinga question
Asked about Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga’s (who returned home after suffering a back injury) availability, Pollock left it to the bowler to decide when to take the field. “Lasith knows his body best. He will understand how he feels after bowling today. He will take a call on his availability,” Pollock said.

Meanwhile, Delhi Daredevils coach Eric Simmons said they would look to take the positives from their thumping victory over MI in the first-leg match. “It was a good win against them the last time. We will take the positives from that game.” The Daredevils defeated Mumbai by seven wickets after bowling them out for 92 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 16.

Simmons felt that snatching victory from the jaws of defeat tests a team. “It’s good to win from a losing position,” he stressed. The Daredevils could not train at the Feroz Shah Kotla due to bad weather yesterday.
