Conmen held after truck driver's complaint

Four young men were arrested for posing as traffic policemen and extracting money from truck drivers late on Tuesday night.

Identified as Sampat Manikrao Bhosale (25) of Vishrantwadi, and Ashok Nivrutti Udage (23), Swapnil Dnyaneshwar Dhamale (25) and Rohan Vitthal Shinde (23) of Bhosari, they were arrested after truck driver Kailas Pal (30) from Rajasthan filed a complaint.

"Pal had loaded his truck with potatoes from Agra and was heading towards Pune. He had reached Bhosari when the accused approached him posing as cops," said Police Sub-Inspector M K Naikawade. "The four told Pal he was in a no-entry zone and demanded Rs 5,000 in fine."

Naikawade said the four were arrested by a team of the Bhosari police station, who were on patrolling duty at the time.
