Ashish Minase concealed that he was already married to a Katraj woman; his mother, father and two friends are absconding after they, too, were booked for the crime
Sahakarnagar police arrested a doctor for marrying a widow after allegedly concealing his first marriage from her, and using his friends to intimidate her so that she divorces him.
The accused was identified as Dr Ashish Laxmikant Minase, a resident of Mohannagar in Dhankawadi, who practices at a local hospital. Minase was employed with a reputeable hospital near Katraj in the past.
Based on the woman’s complaint, a case was registered under 498 (A) (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 420 (cheating), 354(C) (voyeurism) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, against Minase, his mother Meena, father Laxmikant and friends Machindra Naik and Dinesh Jain.
Assistant Inspector Suraj Patil from Sahakarnagar police station said, “Dr Minase has been arrested and given a day’s police custody. His mother, father and friends are still at large. They too will be arrested soon.”
According to the complaint, Minase was already married to a woman from Katraj but kept his first marriage under wraps. He married the complainant in May 2012, following which she shifted to Minase’s residence. She has a 20-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son from her first marriage.
“Dr Minase has taken Rs 3.5 lakh from me on the pretext of paying car insurance. He used to abuse my children and me. While Minase’s mother and father used to harass me mentally and physically, his friends Jain and Naik threatened me over phone to , asking me to divorce him,” the complainant stated in her FIR.
