London: Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has revealed that he rejected an offer from English football club Manchester United last summer in order to sign with Bayern Munich.
The 28-year-old, who spent four seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, left Juventus in 2015 to return to Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, reports Efe.
"Yes, there was a chance to come to England. It was last summer and at one point we thought that is what would happen. I liked the opportunity that they had offered me, but eventually it did not happen and I chose to come to Bayern," Vidal said on Monday.
Vidal joined the Bavarian club, current leader of Bundesliga, for 37 million euros ($40.7 million) and played 22 games in which he scored two goals.
"I wanted to come to a team this strong and to a project that is so ambitious," the midfielder said, indicating that he feels "very happy".
