Looking at the success rate, we are now planning to initiate online appointment booking for renewal of transport vehicle permit as well, which is most likely to start by the end of November,” informed Jitendra Patil, regional transport officer.
Officials at the RTO are looking to work on software that can help them streamline the process. The online system will also provide vehicle owners a list of items that they have to ensure is in place, like reflectors, working head and taillights, pollution under control (PUC) certificate, etc., before they bring their vehicles for the fitness test.
“The online booking for fitness test will help make the process faster and reduce footfall of people coming to the RTO. Before giving the certificate it is important to check the vehicle thoroughly, which is otherwise a time-consuming process,” added Patil.
