When the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hastily penciled in a two-Test and three-ODI series against West Indies at the cost of a full-fledged tour in South Africa, speculation was rife that it was done to ensure Sachin Tendulkar played his 200th Test at home.

Given the speed with which the Board coordinated with its Caribbean counterpart, one believed the BCCI had a concrete plan in place. But developments over the last couple of days have added to the chaos.
