...in making the film a fun ride, says this modest guy who's headlined three blockbuster films

Has the success of Avatar changed you as a person, from being someone living in his car to being part of the biggest blockbuster of all times?

Did losing the big trophy to Hurt Locker upset you?
I hope by big trophy you mean the Oscars. But my answer would be a solid no. Audience appreciation and support is all that matters to me. I will try to get it for some other role in the near future dear. I won't say the Oscars do not have importance in my life....i It's a dream for every artist and I am no exception.u00a0u00a0u00a0

Like Avatar, Clash of the Titans too is a massive epic, have you become synonymous with big budget films?
Any scale does not matter if audiences don't like the film. I do agree on the point that Avatar and Clash of The Titans, both of them had quite good production budgets but it was the demand of the script to narrate these stories in a certain manner. I hope people will also like my romantic film Last Night.

Do you think 3-D is getting gimmicky with every producer wanting to make a quick buck with its technology?
Hey man, I am getting a little defensive here but it's not trueu00a0 at least with Avatar and Clash of The Titans, because in both films, technology manifolds the entertainment experience and I won't be able to comment on others.u00a0

How relevant is the 3-D format for Titans, how does it affect the movie watching experience?
When you will see the giant 40-ft scorpions, 80-ftu00a0 Medusa, an unimaginably large Kraken, and real locations which are more beautiful than your dreams in 3-Du00a0-- all of it adds the richness to the cinema. It was the combined decision of Warner Bros and Louis of making the gods even more formidable, the creatures even more fearsome, and taking audiences even deeper into the mythological realm of Perseus' quest with the help of available techniques.

What kind of research did you do for Titans since it has loads of legends and folklore in it?
In Australia, as we grew up, you learn the myths, like the Minotaur and the Maze, things like that. But I didn't really look at studying Greek mythology for this film. I think it's a fun ride. And I'm a big believer in that. So, I didn't really look deep into the old Perseus because he wore no clothes. I think that would be quite horrific for young kids. (Laughs)u00a0 But we were well aware of them. I think there's a rough sketch of things that you have in mind that you're aware of, but there are also very many different variations of the myths over the years, and so this is a sort of compilation of many different elements.u00a0

You are a pretty low-key guy, post-Avatar, has it been tough going out and grabbing a bite?
Yes. You are right. People pay more attention afterwards.u00a0

What kind of movies interest you?
Sci-fi (science fiction) and sometimes romantic comedies as well.

Now that Avatar 2 is in the works, are you excited, has Cameron spoken to you about it?
Am quite excited. James and I have not had a serious chat yet but we casually talked about it when we were shooting Avatar a long back. James is not a person who makes a movie just for the sake of making money or to continue his ongoing business. He makes a movie when he is totally convinced that he has a really good story to tell and he has not decided anything on it yet.
