Services that were disrupted on the Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri line on Sunday evening were restored only after 10.30 pm
For the second time in nine days, thousands of commuters were stranded on Sunday evening as services on Delhi Metro's Gurgaon-Jahangirpuri line were disrupted for an hour due to a technical snag, a Metro official said. The fault was rectified and the services resumed at 10.36 p.m.
Sources said the problems started at around 9.00 pm when overhead electrification developed some problem at Sikandarpur Metro station in south Delhi.
"The operation between Central Secretariat and Sikandarpur were stopped but trains were running between Gurgaon and beyond Sikandarpur. The overhead electrification had developed some snag and trains were unable to draw power," said Metro sources.
However, as it was a Sunday and the number of passengers was also low, alternate arrangement of buses were not made and there wasn't much chaos.
"As soon as the incident was reported a team of engineers were pressed into service to rectify the snag," said a Delhi Metro official. Later, DMRC claimed that the problem was rectified and normal services restored at 10.36 pm.
