Former India captain Gundappa Vishwanath was delighted to see Shikhar Dhawan displace him as the highest scorer by an Indian on Test debut.
Vishwanath, who scored 137 against Australia at Kanpur in 1969, said from Bangalore: “He totally dominated the Aussies. It was a great innings. I don’t mind losing my record (to him). In fact, I am happy that my record was unbeaten for 44 years. I enjoyed his batting thoroughly.”u00a0
The ease with which Dhawan played his strokes around the ground, surprised Vishwanath. “It looked as if he has been playing international cricket for a long time,” added Vishwanath.
