In yet another wondrous day for Test cricket, England fast bowler Stuart Broad bagged a hat-trick in front of his home crowd to put England back in the second Test here on Saturday.

Watched by his father and match referee Chris, the 25-year-old pacer claimed the first ever Test hat-trick to be achieved against India. On Day Two on Saturday, Broad claimed the wickets of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh (himself a Test hat-trick man) and Praveen Kumar to pull out a chunk of advantage gained by India through the batting of centurion Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh (62).

The duo put on 128 for the fifth wicket before Broad wreaked havoc to bowl out India for 288, the visitors claiming a 67-run first innings lead.

Broad claimed five wickets for no runs in 16 ballsu00a0- a fantastic piece of fast bowling but at the same time, a near-unbelievable collapse. He finished with six for 46.

At close of play, England were 24 for the loss of Alastair Cook's wicket in the second innings. The Essex man's s poor form in this series continues. In four innings so far, he has been able to score just 20 runs. VVS Laxman was the third Indian batsman after Dravid and Yuvraj to shine on the dayu00a0-- an attractive 54 which included 10 hits to the fence.
