By: Varun Singh

Mumbai: A contingent of 25 Goan traffic police officers, are in Mumbai to train under their Mumbai counterparts.

On Saturday afternoon motorists at the Bharat Mata junction saw an unusual scene. Instead of traffic cops from Mumbai police, the police officials of Goa police were guiding them.

It was actually a practice session for a contingent of 25 Goa traffic police officers, who are in Mumbai for their training in traffic rules and regulations.

The Goa traffic officers who came to Mumbai on June 30, are being trained at the Traffic Institute in Kherwadi, and will return back to Goa on the 16th of this month.

S Naik, Assistant Sub Inspector, Goa Police said, "We are getting trained here so that we can handle the traffic more efficiently in our city."

"The traffic conditions in Goa are not so hectic as compared to Mumbai; so we will get a better knowledge of dealing with traffic in Goa," added Naik.

The Goa police are learning all about the central rules and the punishments involved, if and when a violation takes place.

S. Sarang a Mumbai police officer said, "We train a batch every month, we take them to busy junctions in the city and teach them all about managing traffic."
