lingo war: MNS activists put up a hoarding outside National College, Bandra in response to Samajwadi MP Jaya Bachchan's comment at a music launch last night. pic/shadab khan | Quick to react to Jaya Bachchan's remarks at the music release of Drona yesterday, activists from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) fashioned a public reply early this morning. In a banner erected on Linking road, Bandra, a ticket from Mumbai to Allahabad is pictured with the words "Chalte vha Marathi Manoos tumhala maaf karnar naahin, shivarancha Maharashtra tar nahich nahin" (The Marathi are never going to forgive you, and Shivaji Maharaja's Maharashta is not going to forgive you either). MNS executive member Akhil Chitre said that Jaya Bachchan need not have made this sarcastic remark at an entertainment event. "There was no need to make such comments. Would she have done the same down south or in east India? She has deeply hurt the sentiments of people of this state." At the event, Bachchan had jokingly remarked, "Hum toh Hindi mein bolna pasand karenge. Hum toh UPwalle hain. Mumbaiwalle humein maaf karein."
